Why Would Bluetooth Connection be Lost with Curt Echo
Updated 01/10/2020 | Published 01/09/2020 >
Question:
For the most part this works great. My concern is I have often gotten a message that Bluetooth connection has been lost and it states it will still work to apply the brakes. I do not feel comfortable not being able to visually see the brakes being applied. I have my wife disable the app, re the controller in my Bluetooth settings and then restart the app. What causes the Bluetooth connection to be lost?

The Bluetooth connection may be lost with the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 for a couple of reasons. One may be that the phone is not receiving the signal if it's possibly a phone that has seen better days and may get intermittent signals sometimes. The other is that it may not fully be seated in your 7-way or the trailer plug may not be fully seated in the Echo when it is connected, or possibly signal interference from other Wi-Fi or Bluetooth devices, so you may try turning those off if you have them. If you lose signal, the trailer brakes are still going to work, but you'll just lose the manual override until the Bluetooth connection is re-established.
