Do Motorhome Running Lights Need to be on for Roadmaster InvisiBrake to Function Properly

Question:
Now that you have responded that the InvisiBrake #8700 signal lamp on the Motor Home dash should light up each time its brake is applied Camping World believes I may have a short in my line causing the lamp not to light up each time the brake is applied. They will check this out the week of January 6th for the 3rd time! Camping World told me to keep the Motor Home lights on to activate the InvisiBrake system in the KIA but, during the day the Motor Home back camera screen is clouded and virtually inoperable. I found that if the Motor Home lights are not on, the camera screen is crystal clear. Is leaving the Motor Home lights on due to how the system was wired? If so, can it be rewired to allow for the clear camera screen? And/or do need the Motor Home lights on for the braking system to work?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The purpose of turning on the running lights for your motorhome in regards to the Roadmaster InvisiBrake # RM-8700 is to charge the battery on the towed vehicle, which in your case is a 2015 Kia Soul. Other than that you can keep your running lights off and the InvisiBrake should work properly.
If you want to keep charging the battery on your Kia without turning on your running lights then you can install the Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 on your Kia and then the Charge Line Kit # RM-156-75 on your motorhome if it doesn't have a 12V power pin on the wiring socket at the rear. This essentially connects the battery from your Kia directly to the battery on your motorhome and provides a trickle charge to keep your Kia battery from draining throughout the day.
