Recommended Parts for Flat Towing a 2023 Lincoln Nautilus

We own a 2023 Lincoln Natalus that we intend to flat tow. Im interested in the blu ox and road master.

Hey Randy. Blue Ox and Roadmaster's tow bars and baseplates are pretty comparable but Roadmaster's wiring options are far superior. Please note that the you can only flat tow your Nautilus if it has the 2.7L V6 engine.

To flat tow your 2023 Lincoln Nautilus I recommend the following parts from both Roadmaster and Blue Ox:

Tow Bar and Safety Cables - Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar item # BLU28QV and item # BX88197

Base Plate Kit - Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BX2680

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267

Battery Disconnect - Roadmaster Battery Ace Battery Disconnect w/ Key Fobs item # RM39ZT

Supplemental Braking System - Blue Ox Patriot Portable Flat Tow Brake System item # BLU37TR the 12 Volt Outlet Kit item # RM-9332.

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.

Olathe Ford RV installed my base plate. It is a perfect fit. The tow pins slide and lock in and can be easy removed. I already had the Blue Ox tow bar. On my 2022, Ford installed a battery discount switch. Two types available, a button in the cab or a switch under the hood - Either works. I have used Blue Ox products for 11 years and have been happy. So, I can’t offer a qualified opinion on the Road Master.

Thank you for responding and your advice. I’ve read that some people put a charging wire on the towed Vehicle. What is your opinion on that? Do you know of anyone here in Prescott Valley Arizona area that can install this on our car? We plan on purchasing the items you suggested. Thank You For your help, Randy Hayes

@RandyH I took my Lincoln to a local body shop and they installed my base plate and wiring was already available to just plug in. I put a etrailer light kit on the rear bumper so I did not have to mess with door plates and this works great. I can hook up by myself. Not as easy as my CRV was but I like the drive of the Lincoln. Local body shop was about half the price of a camper place and mechanics at body shop are very knowledgeable about taking cars apart and installing aftermarket parts. ( I was insurance adjuster for 30 years so this might save you some money as well. I live the Blue Ox Tow Bar. All I have ever used. I have a Nexus Rebel 4X4 Duramax Diesel. Pulls the Lincoln like a dream. Hope this helps. I did not put a charging wire on the Lincoln as I use the disconnect for the battery.

@RandyH You're welcome! While your Lincoln is in neutral tow mode and powering an auxiliary supplemental braking system there's still draw on the battery. The Battery Charge Line Kit item # RM-156-25 ensures you do not arrive at your destination with a dead battery. It wires into the 7-way connector on the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit item # RM-15267. We have a network of reputable dealers in the area and all over the country I can get you connected to but as far as hey go to Joe's Garage to get it installed I am not that familiar with the Prescott Valley area. Beautiful part of the country btw. If you go to the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BX2680 product page and scroll down below the pics on the left side you'll see a box that says, SCHEDULE AN INSTALLATION. Go ahead and click on it and it will take you to a page where you'll be able to enter your zip code.
