There are a number of trailer hitches that fit your 2020 Subaru Forester, with options that have a hidden crosstube, visible crosstube and different receiver sizes, and since there are so many options, I'll list out what fits and what the best options are for your '20 Forester. Let's start with fits:
- Class II with 1-1/4" Receiver: Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 36671 and Curt Trailer Hitch # C12198
- Class III with 2" Receiver: Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76271, EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch # 306-X7391, Curt Trailer Hitch # C13409
In regards to the best option, any time you have have a choice between a hitch with a 1-1/4" and 2" receiver, you always want to go with the 2" receiver because the larger receiver gives you more (and better) options for accessories and ball mounts. Your options then come down to a hitch with a visible crosstube or a hidden crosstube.
The best hitch for your 2020 Forester that has a visible crosstube is the Draw-Tite # 76271 because it is from the manufacturer that makes the highest-quality product. Or for a hidden crosstube the EcoHitch # 306-X7391 is also a very well-made hitch, but is also the only option for a hidden hitch on your vehicle. If you plan on doing more towing than using accessories like bike racks the better option is the Draw-Tite, but if you only want to use the hitch for things like a bike rack, the EcoHitch is the better option.
