Recommended Hitch w/ Least Amount of Trimming for a 2020 Subaru Forester
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have a 2020 subaru forester. I need a 2 in trailer hitch for a new bike rack I got. Some hitches seem to say you have to remove heat shield to install. I prefer not to do that. Do your require that.

All of our different trailer hitches for a 2020 Subaru Forester will require you to trim the heat shield in order for it to be reinstalled back on the vehicle. I recommend the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 306-X7391 because it requires the least amount of trimming and is perfect for a bike rack.
I really like the Ecohitch because it installs behind your rear bumper cover leaving only the 2" x 2" receiver visible. This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 3,500 lbs towing capacity, and a 525 lbs maximum tongue weight. This hitch is made in the USA and weighs 43 lbs.
I have linked a couple of pictures below along with an installation video so you can see what this hitch looks like when installed. One of the pictures is a screenshot of the installation instructions that will show you the piece of the heat shield that needs to be cut off.
If you ever planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # 118467 and a ball mount kit item # C45534.
