Will the Replacement Rubber Grommet F02-2105 Replace a Leaking Spin-Weld Grey Water Tank Outlet

Published 09/30/2019

Question:

Hello- I have a crack in my gray tank where the outlet pipe is spin-welded to the side of the tank. I’m going to try to patch it, but it seems folks have about a 50/50 success rate. If that does not work could I cut out the spin-weld with a 2-1/2” hole, and use one of these to connect a pipe? How do you seal this in place? Also it says for use with polyethylene tanks, mine is ABS. Would that be an issue? Thanks!

I don't see any reason as to why you could not remove the outlet you have now and install the Replacement Rubber Grommet for RV Gray Water Tanks part # F02-2105 in its place so long as removing the existing outlet does not create a hole larger than 2-1/2" diameter. In regards to tank construction, this will work with both polyethylene (HDPE) and ABS. The rubber flanges on each side sandwich the tank walls and form a seal. If you wanted you could always use some glue as well but this should not be needed.

Frankly, the only other option will be to replace the tank entirely
