The Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch part # DM8550024 has a total weight of around 300 lbs. That said, it can be broken down into three pieces to make things easier when removing and installing the hitch. These three pieces are the head which weighs around 60 lbs, the side brackets which weigh around 60 lbs as well, and the base which weighs around 180 lbs.
I will say that the majority of customers who frequently install and remove this hitch use the Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket part # DM6100 with an overhead pulley system. There is also a cover for the head if you wish to leave the hitch installed, the Cover for Demco Hijacker 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM14844. There is no denying the Demco Hijacker is heavy but the convenience it offers more than makes up for this.
