Question:

Hello. I was looking to purchase your Titan single axle disk brake kit for my tandem axle aluminum trailer. Weight of trailer and boat is roughly 4,000lbs. Question is what axle would the disk brakes go on, front or rear? I keep hearing conflicting information. Thank you.

Normally when installing a single set of disc brakes like the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit for Single Axles # K2R35D on a tandem axle trailer, you'll want to install the new brake kit on the rear axle. Placing the brakes on the rear axle is normally the standard since the rear axle has greater traction than the front axle-consider that the front axle hits bumps first. Also, if you decide to add brakes to the front axle in the future you'll already have the brake lines in place, so you won't have to worry about running new brake lines to your rear axle.

In order to make sure that these brakes will fit, you'll need to verify that your current bearings will match the new rotors. This kit is designed for use with the following:

Bearings
Inner bearing: # L68149
Outer bearing: # L44649

Races
Inner race: # L68111
Outer race: # L44610

Seal: # RG06-050

Inner diameter: 1.719"
Outer diameter: 2.565"

If your bearings/seal are the same, you'll be able to use the Kodiak Disc Brake kit. If you've got a different bearing, let me know and I can recommend a kit that will fit your axles.
