The recommended torque range for lug nuts varies by the stud diameter, wheel size and wheel material and if you refer to the linked chart you can see the torque range for 1/2-inch studs starts at 75-ft-lbs and goes as high as 120-ft-lbs. Many RVs use a 15-inch or 16-inch steel wheel and for wheels this size on 1/2-inch studs that are secured with standard 60-degree coned lug nuts the torque range is 90 to 120-ft-lbs.

If you need a torque wrench we offer several wrenches like # ALL944001 and also adapters you can use with a socket, such as # ALL940962 shown on the linked page.

Tire shop torqued my wheel lug nuts to 140 ft lb. 2021 Montana 3671fl. Every chart I see should have bees 90-100 ft lbs. my question is would you. 1/2” stud, aluminum wheels, 16” tires. Would you loosen and torque to 100 ft lbs. I have not driven over 30 miles any not over 55 mph. Thanks

@RickyR I'd at least back off to . 140 ft lb for 16 inch aluminum wheels with 1/2 inch studs is too high. Over-torquing can lead to the studs stripping or even breaking, and the wheel coming off...you can see where I'm going here. Too much torque can, over time, be pretty dangerous so I'd definitely back them off.
