Can Curt E16 Hitch for Chevy/GM Rail Kit Fit Without Using Shims

Question:

Hi I purchased a puck system for my 2019 Chevy 2500. The hitch was easy to put together all except four pins that the base holds the roller together. When I remove the rubber shims it goes right in but I am not sure if it is safe to operate the fifth wheel hitch without the shims in between the roller and the base. Do I have to have the shims?

If the Curt E16 5th Wheel Hitch w R16 Roller for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C16667 fits better without the shims between the roller and the bed of the truck feel free to not use them. We had another customer come back and report the same thing and their solution was to not use them. They didn't have a problem at all.

Most likely you have a thick spray-in bedliner which is taking up the space the shims normally use.
