Wiring Harness Not Powerful Enough to be Used with a Trailer that Needs More Amps

Question:

I bought the T-One connector # 118412 kit for my 2008 Toyota Rav 4. The installation went well once I figured out that there really isnt much to the Toyota prewire as part of the towing package if you have any help on what prewire is on this model, please let me know. My problem is this my little enclosed trailer has 15 marker lights and 4 taillights for a total of about 14.25 amps. I am blowing the 10 amp fuse supplied with the kit. I believe a 15 foot run of the 12 guage? wire supplied in the kit should handle 15 amps. Questions: 1 Is the black wire to the battery from the kit 12 guage? 2 Can I use a 15 amp fuse in the fuseholder instead of the 10 amp fuse? 3 If not, is there a heavier duty T-One connector I should be using that is a fit for this vehicle? Your help is appreciated.

The maximum amp rating for the T-One Wiring Harness are as follows: Maximum stop/turn light: 1 per side (2.1 amps), Max. tail lights: (4.2 amps). This rating is even with the hot lead pulling power directly from the battery. For your application, you will need to use a Heavy Duty Modulite, part # C59496, which is rated for 15.9 amps. This kit does not plug directly into the vehicle, so it must be hardwired.

The Kit includes 20 feet of 12 gauge wire for attachment to the battery.
