How To Run the Power Wire for the Curt T-Connector on a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan

Question:

Hi. Rather than continuously hook this up to your car battery. If you only trailer for 30-60 minutes at a time a few times a year, can this be hooked up to a small portable battery like a lawn mower battery in the trunk. Seems to be a chore to run to the engine and also a continuous draw.

I suppose it is possible to wire the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56403 to a lawn mower battery in the trunk area of your vehicle so long as it is 12 volt but I don't really think that is the best way to install the above. The power wire for the Curt T-Connector only needs to be ran once, it could then remain installed on the vehicle even while not towing. The Curt T-Connector will not draw power from the vehicle's battery unless there is a trailer plugged in so you don't have to worry about this.

I have attached an install video for you that shows a good spot to run the power wire if that is what you decide.
