Question:
Trailer gvwr is 7890. Should I go with the Curt TruTrack 17500 or 17499?

Between the two Curt TruTrack weight distribution systems you mentioned I definitely recommend going with the higher rated # C17500.
A trailer's tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight which means we can estimate a loaded tongue weight on your 7,890 pound trailer to be around 789 to 1,183 pounds. The Curt TruTrack # C17500 features a tongue weight capacity range of 800 to 1,000 pounds which much better matches your potential range than the 500 to 800 pound capacity on the # C17499 that you also referenced.
You will get the most benefits out of a weight distribution system when your total tongue weight falls comfortably within the system's capacity range. Keep in mind too that your total tongue weight includes both the loaded tongue weight of the trailer along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle.
If you find that your total tongue weight will exceed the 1,000 pound limit on the recommended TruTrack then I recommend looking at the Equal-i-zer # EQ37120ET instead. This is an excellent system that features an 800 to 1,200 pound tongue weight capacity range, integrated 4-Point Sway Control to drastically limit any side-to-side movement, and clamp-on brackets that eliminate the need to drill into your trailer's frame. I do just recommend adding the Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to help with installation.
I have attached a couple short video demonstrations on these systems that you can check out along with an article you might find helpful.
