Question:

I tried to change out the Thule bars that came with my 2017 Outback 3.6R Touring. I want the 60 wing bars in black. I got everything ready to go only to find out there is not enough groove to allow the towers to mount to my rails. My old rails you could use whatever length of bar you wanted. The 60foot bars barely clear the side of the car. I want aero bars that are at least 60on my Outback. What are my options?

Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars do not come in lengths beyond 60 inches. To get longer bars that are compatible with your Thule feet you will need to use their ProBar. The Thule ProBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - 69" Long - Qty 2 # TH713600 can be cut to your custom length as the channels run the entire length of the bars. They still have an aero style with a top channel but they also have a rear channel and bottom channel that span the entire length to give you more mounting options. These bars will still be compatible with most accessories and carriers. They are 2 inches wide and 1-1/2 inches tall compared to the WingBar that is 3-1/8 inches wide and 1 inch tall.

Unfortunately the ProBar is not available in black so you would need to prime and paint if you want black. The black WingBars are the same Aluminum that are coated in black so they will hold the color, but they don't offer that option from the factory on the long bars.

If you aren't concerned about Thule brand, then you can use the Yakima JetStream Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 70" Long - Qty 2 # Y00427 as an alternative.
