Question:
Is this rack higher from ground? I tried lifting the Specialized Cuomo step through, after removing battery. My concern is buying a rack, either Rocky Mt or Saris freedom, and not being able to lift that high. Local bike shop thinks Saris freedom will not work because Specialized Como bike is too large a circumference where battery housed, for soft straps of Saris F to fit. Also shop manager thinks Rocky Mountain higher to lift up bike to. Of course they recommend Thule Easy Fold With ramps, that is unaffordable. So, havent purchased bike yet due to mixed info on racks. Help!!

If you have narrowed your decision down to two the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10007 and the Saris Freedom # SA4412B, I would encourage to take a look at one more, the or theRockyMounts HighNoon FC Solo # RKY87RR.
The Freedom has a very high 8 inch shank rise and the RockyMounts is configured in such a way that the platform the bike will sit on is quite a bit higher than that of the other two racks.
I agree that the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 was a good suggestion because it takes lifting your bike completely out of the equation although you are correct that it is a premium option. I also hear you that it is not affordable.
My recommendation is the RockyMounts HighNoon FC Solo Bike Rack for 1 Bike - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # RKY87RR, it is low enough to make it easier to load. It also will hold bikes up to 60 lbs and will even work if your bike has fenders. Take a look at the attached video to see if you like this rack.
