If you aren't getting any power to the factory brake controller port beneath the dash of your Ford F-150 then most likely you have a blown fuse under the hood.
I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2008 Ford F-150 and it lists the trailer brake controller fuse in the F105 position inside the power distribution box. This is a 30 amp cartridge fuse. Replacing this particular fuse should get power back to the brake controller port and resolve your issue.
