What are the thoughts on Curt or draw-tite HD class V, 2 1/2" Receiver with the titan 48" extension?

For your 2001 Ram 3500 Dually 4x4 with Lance 11.5 camper, I recommend the Brophy Ball Mount # BM20. This extra long ball mount will allow you to put the hitch ball center 13-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch receiver. This is rated for 10,000 lbs.

I recommend the # 63845 for a 2 inch hitch ball or # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch ball.

If you need more length than the extra long ball mount, you may consider the Curt Extender for 2" Receivers -18" Long # C45796, but using an extender like this will reduce the tongue weight of your trailer hitch by 50% and none of them will have a capacity of 5500 lbs without using a special TorkLift hitch and extension. For your truck, this would be # TLD1100 and # TLE1542.

The Titan Hitch Box Extension for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches, 41" - 48" Long # RP45018 has a capacity of 5000 lbs at 41 inches or 4000 lbs at 48 inches unless you use weight distribution which bumps it to 7500 and 6000. So it could work with weight distribution for your trailer. The Curt Class V hitches that fit your 2001 Ram 3500 are only 2 inch receivers, so they won't work. However, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" # DT45513 will work with this application. I recommend using the Draw-Tite 7-Way Connector 7' Loop # 20027 for your trailer wiring which you can cut down to size if desired.
