Can Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller be Mounted Backwards
Published 09/11/2018 >
Question:
Hi, I have a 2015 MB Sprinter with the factory tow package pre-wired for brake controller and am thinking of purchasing the tekonsha 90885 brake controller. First, I have a question regarding installation. The instructions say to mount unit parallel to direction of travel, my question is, can I mount this unit parallel to the direction of travel, but with the wires from the unit pointing to the back of the vehicle the display pointing to the front of the vehicle? I would like to mount the unit under the driver’s seat. Thank you for your assistance.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 that you referenced( and also the P3 # 90195) can be mounted backwards so that the display is facing the front of the vehicle as long as you also mount it upside down for it to work properly in this orientation.
With that being said, I don't recommend mounting a brake controller beneath the driver's seat like you mentioned. In addition to not being able to see the display screen to look for current settings or error codes, the manual override lever to apply the trailer brakes (which might be needed in a pinch) won't be easily accessible.
I have attached a couple short video demonstrations on this controller along with the written manual that you can take a look at.
