Will Drilling into Trailer Frame for Chain Hanger Brackets RP58305 Weaken the Frame
Updated 09/17/2018 | Published 09/15/2018 >
Question:
I bought a weight distribution hitch and there is a cross support in the way of the snatch up hangers so the chains would be at a slight angle. I want to buy this part as a solution but am concerned that drilling thru the tongue will weaken the trailer frame. Is this a valid concern? Trailer is a 2019 palomini with a dry hitch weight of around 400lbs

The trailer manufacturer may have something to say about drilling into the sides of the frame but if they are fine with it then you are good to go with chain hangers # RP58305. A steel frame would still be fine if you drilled into it. Aluminum can be an issue unless the manufacturer says it is fine to do so.
When you say a slight angle, how far off from being straight are the chains? If it is slight enough you may not have to use alternate brackets.
