Question:
Im in need on a unit like this for a 2005 Saturn Vie install. This item states, as a highlight before you click to show all the information, that it has a powered converter. The Hopkinds model HM11140935 includes a powered converter, in which a red lead can be seen in the picture. This would assumably be the wire you connect to the 12 volt source to power the converter thus taking the edge of ones electrical system. I do not see a similar wire on the Curt model, nor do I see the notes powered converter listed anywhere in the in depth info area. Is this a mistake or is the converter powered by some wire in the factory in-line adapters?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Curt trailer wiring harness # C56018 for your 2005 Saturn Vue is not a powered harness. It gets all the power for the trailer lights through the vehicle tail light wiring. As you said the Hopkins harness # HM11140935 does require a direct connection to the vehicle battery so it would be the best option based on what you are looking for.
