What Size Propane Hose Do I Need to Use

Updated 08/21/2024 | Published 09/07/2018

Question:

I have a 2008 37foot WW 5th wheel toy hauler. My current hose that supplies the rigid piping from the regulator has two different ends. One end is a 3/8inch flare female and a much larger at least 1/2 on the end connecting to the gas pipe. The hose is difficult to find and I wanted to reduce the larger fitting size with a reducer so I can buy a two ended 3/8inch female flare hose. Is the diameter of this hose sufficient to feed my trailer?

Expert Reply:

The diameter of propane hose you need is going to depend on two factors which is the length of the hose and btu rating of the appliance. I have attached a chart for you which will allow you to determine if the 1/4" diameter hose on the Camco Propane Hose Assembly part # CAM59913 will be sufficient for you needs.

I just purchased a 2005 HR Presidential. The hose to hard pipe is about 3', so according to the chart it should be 1/4"? My hose looks new and is 3/8" I'm asking because my furnace will not stay running and the refrigerator running on LP makes intermittent popping noise. Furnace has new sail switch, igniter, burner and limit switch test good. Refrigerator burner is clean. Having both issues I got to thinking maybe it was my LP pressure.
