Question:

What is max tongue load and I dont want a sag in the rear. If necessary, what suspension aid is best to prevent sag but not lift up the rear when empty. Thank you,

According to the owner's manual for your 2011 Honda Pilot 4x4, the maximum tongue load will vary from 450 lbs to 100 lbs depending on the number of occupants you have. If you have two occupants then the maximum tongue load is 450 lbs but if you have seven occupants then the maximum tongue load is 100 lbs.

In order to prevent the potential rear end sag you have two options, suspension enhancements or a weight distribution system. Suspensions enhancements will be a one time only install and won't lift the rear while unloaded as they only engage while loaded depending on which you choose. A weight distribution system will require extra work each time you go to couple the trailer but also most are dual purpose in that they help to distribute weight and prevent/reduce trailer sway. This option won't raise up the vehicle while unloaded either.

For a set of suspension enhancements I recommend the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # THROD2 as they are super easy to install, only one bolt per side. For a weight distribution system I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System like part # FA92-00-0450 which is rated up to 450 lbs of total tongue weight. The total tongue weight will be calculated by adding the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer to any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
