When you bolt on a snowplow, winch, or heavy grille guard, the front end can sag and throw off your handling. The Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs add up to 1,000 lbs of load-leveling support right inside your front coil springs. That extra support keeps your vehicle level under load, helping steering and braking stay tight and headlight aim true. You’ll notice better ride quality and less strain on your tires and factory suspension when the front end is carrying serious weight.
Every accessory or load adds its own weight, so being able to tune your suspension is key. These molded polyurethane air springs let you adjust air pressure from 5 psi to 50 psi for just the right amount of lift and firmness. Add more air when you’re working with heavy gear or drop the pressure back down for regular driving. You can even install dual air lines to inflate each spring separately when the load isn’t perfectly balanced from side to side.
Rough roads and uneven terrain can shake the front end hard when it’s weighed down. The Air Lift 1000 springs help take the edge off bumps by absorbing road shock before it reaches the cab. That means less bounce and sway when driving over dips or pulling into uneven ground, keeping the ride steady and comfortable even when loaded down with front-end equipment.
This system slips right inside your existing front coil springs with no special tools required. Everything you need comes in the box—two air springs, tubing, Schrader valves, and hardware—along with an easy-to-follow manual. Manual inflation valves can be mounted wherever it’s convenient to reach, like on the bumper or behind the grille. For even more convenience later on, you can add a compressor system (sold separately) to monitor and adjust pressure on demand.

We bought our motor home used, a 2007 Winnebago 30B on the Workhorse platform. The original equipment front air bags were no longer viable. I ordered the Air Lift 1000 airbags from etrailer.com and installed them myself. It was a struggle but finally got them worked into place. The Air Lift bags made all the difference in the world as far as stabilization of the motor home driving down the highway. Excellent product! I run about 65 psi and that seems to be the right pressure for this motor home. Thanks to Air Lift for a great product and thanks to etrailer.com for great pricing and fast shipping!!
I purchased these AirLift springs for the front of my 2003 Ford E450 van which is the chassis for our Jayco 2700DS Granite Ridge Class C Motorhome. The front end of the motorhome felt too soft, it bounced, and it wandered when driven on anything less than perfect roads in a straight line. I tried an aftermarket front sway bar but didn't like that because the end links kept breaking (we had an aftermarket rear sway bar and loved it!). Also, it felt like a band aid in that it stiffened the chassis in turns but the vehicle still wandered and bounced. Next we purchased aftermarket front springs but they lifted the front end a lot and the coils were so thick that they didn't fit well in the mounts and the stock Ford coil spring retainer wouldn't work with them. Finally, we tried these air springs since we also had a pair in the rear and loved those. The front air springs were exactly what the vehicle needed to control all of the adverse driving experiences. Since they can be easily adjusted, it is simple to set up the front end's characteristics based on load and driving conditions. Finally, as a complete suspension solution for similar vehicles, I recommend the following: Air springs front and rear (use individual fill points for each spring to help counteract cornering lean-combining the two front or the two rear springs into a single fill point doesn't resist cornering lean as well since the high pressure air can travel side to side from high loaded spring to low loaded spring), keep the oem Ford front sway bar, add a RoadMaster rear sway bar, and add Bilstein shocks. In my opinion, this is the best setup for these Ford based motorhomes and it will transform your rig into a new vehicle. You may also want to add steering stabilizers (I used Roadmaster) based on your individual preference.
First thing, Sorry if the photos are sideways! I took a couple of pics of the air bags because on the site it looks as if they are too skinny to work but NO they are the right size for your P30 Chevy Motorhome. The price was right for the complete kit as shown in the photo with the lines, bags, shields and other little bits for mounting the lines on the frame.
For install, there is a set of directions and an a informational packet for those other items you may want to monitor and maintain you air bags if you so desire. The instructions are pretty good but I'll tell you that hole on the control arm at the bottom ain't that big! I put the bags in hot water to soften them up before trying the rolling and tying part and it helped. Be prepared to spend about 2 hours total to get this done but as far as being complicated, it's not. I didn't have to jack up my RV to do this either. Front suspension will now have the added support it came with back in 1987. Glad to have found this kit vs. the Firestone one that is basically the same for more $$ and many times is not in stock. Can't wait for the first trip!
I replaced the defective front air bags in a 2002 Workhorse P32 Allegro motorhome and they have performed well so far.
Be aware that installation is not for the novice mechanic as seems to be indicated in the installation instructions.
Also purchased the Air Lift Load Control II Compressor system for ease of use.
I purchased AirLift helper springs for my Motorhome about a year ago. Installation was a bit tricky because they fit inside the coil springs but the difference they have made to my ride is impressive, no more jarring bumps from potholes and a much less stressful drive. I definitely recommend these air bag helper springs and thanks to eTrailer for their service.
I bought these to replace the blown bladders in my 2006 Winnebago Siteseer Worsehorse chassis. I'm a handy guy but was a little nervous about cutting out the old bladders and installing the Air Lift 1000 units. I found the customer comments very helpful especially the comment on using a heat gun to pull the old bladders out. The first one took me a couple of hours to figure out, the second one took me less than an hour to deinstall old and install new.
I REALLY appreciate the hose extensions for the valves. I installed them up in the engine compartment where I can easily access them for checking and topping off the air. For the units I replaced, I had to crawl up under the rig to check and fill--no more of that nasty, dirty crawl for this senior citizen.
Filled to 60 PSI, the first drive was noticeably different, the handling feels much stiffer than it had. We're launching out on a 3,600-mile road trip in the next couple of weeks, I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle on the open road.
My advice to folks-- the installation seems daunting, but the results are well worth the challenge. I encourage you to try this product.
Product very nice impressive, thank you!
Package arrived damaged,no parts missing or damaged, can't comment on product not installed at this time.

They work as planned. My plow on my 99 Wrangler is held up nicely
Difficult to squeeze through access opening in control arm
Packaging was good and my product was what I wanted the people were very helpful.
Bought these for the front of my 1992 Bronco with a snowplow. They are GREAT, it only lifted the front about an inch, BUT they took out the bounce in the suspension and my plow mount no longer hits the road. The truck handles better too. The instructions say to remove the shocks and top spring clip, then fold bag in half and feed it down from the top of the spring. THAT was not an option with this truck because everything was so rusted, BUT we were able to stuff the bag between the coils to get it inside the spring, this option was way faster then it would have been to tear it all apart.
I put these on the front of my truck, under normal (unloaded) driving conditions I have about 5 psi in them and they make truck feel solid, I really like having them on when I have my 5th wheel trailer attached to the truck, I run the air bags at about 10-15 psi, the truck feels so much better with these bags on the truck, I feel that the truck is in control not the trailer.
Note: I have rear overload air bags on the truck as well.
5 stars.
Removing old bag: I found that using a heat gun helps tremendously in removing the old bag. Heating it to almost the melting point then sticking a large knife to cut it in pieces and pulling out the bottom.
Installing the new one: I used gear hose clamps after rolling it up and using dish soap as a lubricant helped a lot.
Installed on 15 Jetta tdi. I Removed wheel, then coil spring, (1 side at a time) folded bag like hot dog bun and installed into coil spring upside down (fitting facing down) cause it would have hit otherwise. Reinstalled, ran lines, mounted fill valve in bottom part of rear bumper and filled. It’s been a year and is still working perfectly.
Great product. Smooth install
Super easy Install!!! etrailer customer service also excellent
great front air bags no problem.
