Cant See the CE Smith Bunk Style Guide-Ons Part # CE27671 While Loading Boat

Question:
Bought these from etrailer. Cannot guide boat on easily. I can not see the guide at the stern of the boat cause they are under water when approaching. I have driven the boat directly into them bending the hardware. I have to physically go into the water and guide manually in order to align the boat with the trailer guides. I have 2 sets one in the front and the back . The are mounted on the trailer one beam in from the stern and bow of the trailer 3to 4 inches from the inside of the pontoons . Is the the correct placement. Any suggestions ? How do I align the boat before I drive it up on the trailer. The current u bolts and plate are bent and do not tighten the bunks to the trailer very well? I am a novice as this is my first boat? Not sure I if it is operator error or if I did not install them correctly as detailed by the instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I look like an idiot trying to load my pontoon at the marina.

The boards on the CE Smith Bunk Style Guide-Ons part # CE27671 should be positioned about 2-3" from the inside of the pontoons on your boat. In order to help see the boards I recommend moving them up higher on the upright but not so much so that they contact the underside of the boat. You can then use some fluorescent tape or bendable flags like what you find on a bicycle as this should give you a more pronounced visual cue.
Unfortunately, we do not have the replacement brackets you need so I recommend just taking a hammer and bending them back into place. You can get new hardware at your local hardware store. I hope this helps.
