How to Install the Replacement Latching Spring Pin Part # 8880582

Question:

The red handle of the existing hinge pin on my 10 year old yakima holdup broke off when I backed into a tree. It looks like this is the correct replacement part, but how do i remove the old pin and install this one?

If you take a close look at the Replacement Latching Spring Pin part # 8880582 you will see that the cylindrical body has two notches on either side. If you take an opened ended wrench and place it over the body while aligning it with these notches you can easily remove the spring pin. The threads on the spring pin come with a locking compound so it may take a bit of force to remove the old pin.
