Replaces the latching spring pin on your Yakima bike carrier. Works with HoldUp (Y02443, Y02443-2, or Y02445), TwoTimer (Y02468 or Y02468-FB), or FourTimer (Y02469 or Y02469-FB) bike racks manufactured after 2016.

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at our Replacement Latching Spring Pin for your Yakima bike racks right here at etrailer. So I have this here on our Yakima HoldUp bike rack, but this will also work on some of your other Yakima bike racks like the TwoTimer or the FourTimer. Now, this will also depend on what year your bike rack was made, for example, if you had the gray Yakima HoldUp, which is the older iteration, you would use a different spring pin, so this is gonna be for your newer Yakima HoldUp bike racks, check out the product page just to verify which bike rack you have. So on this side, I have the newer lashing spring pin, and on this other side, I have the older spring pin from an older bike rack. So you can see how you can definitely upgrade or replace your old hardware, whether you cross threaded the old spring pin or maybe broke off the plastic pieces, this is an exact replacement and works the exact same way. So this spring pin fits right into your bike rack and allows you to press on it and then pull it out, and this will be used in order to tilt down your bike rack or fold it up.
So this is definitely an upgrade from the previous version to the spring pin for the older bike racks, because those we're just a spring pin and they didn't have a safety latch. Now, the safety latch is a little tricky to use sometimes, 'cause you have to press it in and pull it out, and make sure you don't pinch your skin between that latch, so just something to think about as you use it. Notice how it is shaped like a round bolt, but you have these flat edges, so that's gonna be so you can use your 24 millimeter wrench, it fits perfectly into the wrench and allows you to tighten or loosen the ball onto your shank. If you need to replace yours, and if it's still attached to your bike rack, just use your 24 millimeter wrench in order to loosen it off of your shank. Just set this up.
Once you have that out, you can then replace it with your new part. So the easiest way to put this back in is just to lift that bolt out of the way, just line up your threads and then start turning. Once you have it threaded through, you can then use your wrench to tighten it down. So I did this by just changing out our latching spring pin, but really, the easiest way to do this is if you take off the spine by removing this bolt, that way you're only threading it onto the shank, and then you put the spine back on afterwards, but it's really up to you, all in all, it's still very possible no matter how you do it, it might just take a little bit more effort. So just make sure that's tightened down with your wrench, and that's it for the install.
Now, if you did cross thread the inside of your shank and not just the latching pin, you may need to replace the shank itself, so just check that out here at etrailer, because you can get the shank with the spring pin included if needed. And that was a look here at our Replacement Latching Spring Pin for your Yakima bike racks right here at etrailer..
This latching spring pin was purchased to replace one that was misplaced during a camping trip. Works as expected.
I think I'm dancing the jig because it looks like a very sturdy part but the next thing is for me to install it. I will relook at the video on your site.

After multiple uses this past year, the spring pin continues to work flawlessly!
Perfect replacement. I was afraid we'd have to get a new bike rack. This saved the day.
Installed on my HoldUP 2 rack, the red plastic broke off on the first 15 mile drive
Easy ordering and got my part to my out of town airbnb quickly, saving my vacation.
It was a perfect fit. I can't go wrong with stuff I buy from etrailer. Thanks
This part is very hard to find. The etrailer team was great at chasing down the supply chain and keeping me updated on the order status while I waited for the part to become available.
This will be the 3rd time I’ve had to replace this pin. The lock tab has broken twice while I’ve been on a road trip. At least the bike rack only goes down to a 45 degree angle when the pin is released.
I like the convenience of the lock tab but I wish it was made out of something other than plastic
This specific part for the Yakima bike rack is crucial. Very durable and replaces the former part with a better build.
This was a hard to get part that I finally found here. Once I ordered it it took quite awhile as Covid was still impacting the supply chain. What I really appreciated is they told me up front it would take a few months instead of sending delay notifications like a lot of other companies were doing. I would definitely recommend Etrailer.
Exactly what I needed and fit like brand new.
Everything went as one would hope. Reasonable price, timely all good.
Great Prompt Service! Appreciate it very much.
Service was fine! It was a single replacement part order.
Great service and quick shipping!
Works perfect! Fast shipping!
It was the wrong part :(

I hate to hear that the pin did not work for you. I want to see if I can help find the right one. What model of bike rack do you have? How old is your rack?
This fits on the rack like a glove. The services I received was top notch. They were very informative and patience with me as we try to figure what we were look for. Again thanks !
Nice item and great price
Always kept me informed and a really nice representative

The locking pins broke one after another. I bought three. If you could make the plastic locking part out of metal I think it would work. I have had to use some squeeze clamps to hold it together after the rack came down to the unload level several time while on the back of my fifth wheel. I should not have to buy 3 pins. Make one that works.

It took four months to get this part that’s my only bitch
Part was as described, and was an easy install. Will use this website again.
