I can get you set up with everything you need to add a brake controller to your 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander. You were correct in starting with the 4-way like # 118482.
You will also need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7, which will give you a 7- and 4-way trailer connector (which you will plug your trailer's 7-way into), circuit breakers and the rest of the hardware needed to install a brake controller.
As for the brake controller itself, I strongly recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195; it is the most popular model we carry due to its effectiveness and ease of use. It will activate your trailer's brakes immediately in proportion to your Outlander's brakes and offers three different boost levels so you can adjust your braking power.
All of this together will give you what you need to install the controller in your Outlander. I have also added a couple articles for you on brake controller installation that I recommend you take a look at.
