Expert Reply:
The Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 # AKHD-545-35-K has a maximum rebore drum diameter of 10.09 inches. This means the interior diameter cannot exceed that diameter and if exceeded will not work properly, so a replacement is recommended.
Re-boring is not recommended by AxleTek (the manufacturer) because re-boring risks contaminating the bearing cups and risks not machining concentric to the Axis. This also voids the warranty on the entire wheel-end and ALL components (including but not limited to: drum and all hardware, brake and all parts, bearings, seals).
