Load Resistor Recommendation for Preventing Hyperflash Range Rover Towing Trailer w LED Taillights

Question:
Gentlemen, if any of your are a EE or circuit expert and can answer a question. I read Michael H. comments on the P230004A-2. And, read the comments on the C57003 by Jameson C. which convinced me to try it. I have a 2007 LR3 HSE that is towing an rPOD 151 from 2009 has LED tail lights. A straight hookup has the functions working yet the hyperflashinch as you call it is there. The LR3 does not recognize the trailer is connected. So, I tried the CURT C57003 from you and all the functions were there, but so was the hyperflash and the LR3 again would not recognize the LED trailer. The CURT unit does not appear to have enough load for my LR3. I really really wanted this to work. I did connect the LR3 to an incandescent tail light trailer and everything worked well. The LR3 recognized the trailer and no hyperflash occurred. So, no I am on the path of using load resistors to fix the hyperflash issue. The attached diagram is from the Australia LR3/LR4 community. As you can see, they put relays in the circuit and use the same resistors as you use. Their approach works but is pretty clunky. Q: Why are there relays in the circuit? You do not suggest the use of relays. Please advise. My last option is to replace the tail light assembly with a tungsten bulb model if one can be found.

Using relays to add the load needed for your LR3 to operate your LED trailer taillights properly is a bit excessive although it may work. Best option is to just add load resistors like the part # DI34ZR to the trailer wiring so that the incandescent bulb load is on the circuit and you'll be set.
