Locating Replacement Leaf Springs for Big Tex 35SA Trailer
Updated 05/04/2018 | Published 05/03/2018 >
Question:
I have a big Tex 35sa. Do you know what springs etc I would need? Also, would it be possible to put 4000 lb springs instead of 3500 lb on it to beef it up? Thank you!

In order to locate correct leaf spring replacements for your Big Tex trailer, you will need to take a quick measurement on your existing springs, from the center of the spring eye to the center of the other spring eye. You will want to take this measurement with the springs unloaded, either by jacking the trailer up or by simply removing the springs and then measuring them.
For example, the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e54SR features a spring eye length of 25-1/8 inches.
Unfortunately, trailer manufacturers don't keep a good record of a lot of the components they install at the factory, so I am unable to find what length your current springs are.
It's certainly possible to upgrade to a higher-capacity leaf spring on a trailer, but keep in mind that upgrading this component by itself won't necessarily increase the trailer's capacity. Because a trailer will always be limited by its weakest component, upgrading the leaf springs will only upgrade your capacity if you know that the springs are the trailer's weakest link. Otherwise, you will still need to adhere to your factory 3,500 pound limit, as this is likely what the axle itself is rated for. Over-rated springs might also lead to a bit of a rougher ride on the trailer.
I have attached a link that will take you directly to our selection of trailer leaf springs that you can look through. You can filter through the different lengths and capacities using the facets on the left side of the page.
