Question:
I was looking at the - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector, Item # 118286 - for my 2017 Honda Pilot. I was curious if this kit comes with a brake controller of some kind? My Pilot has the factory tow package...so is it included within the vehicle somewhere or would this be a separate item I can purchase? thanks...

Some late-model pickup trucks offer the option of a factory-installed trailer brake controller but a vehicle such as a 2017 Honda Pilot does not. In your Pilot you can use a superior aftermarket brake controller. In fact many folks with factory controllers ultimately end up replacing them since the aftermarket units like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 and P3 # 90195 work so much better.
If your Pilot came from the factory with a tow package already installed then brake controller installation will require only the controller itself and the mating wiring adapter.
In your Pilot with a 7-way connector you can install either of the above controllers with only the adapter part # 3070-P which plugs in between the controller and the port under your dash as shown in the linked video. All brake controllers are linked for you along with an article that provides excellent background detail on the available options.
Even if your Pilot did not come with the tow package you can still install a brake controller and the necessary 7-way wiring. This would then be a hard-wired type installation that would require starting with a basic 4-pole harness like # 118760, using installation kit # ETBC7 and adding the controller of your choice.
