Max Wire Gauge Rating for Use with Pollak Single Pin Connector and Socket

Updated 04/16/2018 | Published 04/14/2018

Question:

I saw your mention of the Pollak trailer pin. I read the specs. They say a max of 300 amps. My question is what is the largest wire that fits in the hole. You need quite a large wire to carry 100amps dc? Thanks in advance,

Expert Reply:

The Pollak Single-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket # PK11851 and plug part # PK11852 are rated for 300 amps of continous use like you mentioned. They can accept up to 00 gauge wire which is very thick.
