Trailer Hitch and 4-Pole Wiring for 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC300

Updated 03/21/2018 | Published 03/19/2018

Question:

Hi, I read some reviews that while the Curt 13290 is an excellent hitch for my car, its sitting way too close to the muffler. I wonder if there is anything can be done to avoid the hitch from damaging the muffler, giving there is like 1/4 inch distance only. I would like to find a way to resolve this concern before getting one installed for my car. Also given MBs electronics are mostly computerized, I wonder what parts I need to get the lights done with minimum intervention or no splicing e.g. plug n play. Your advice is appreciated. Thanks

When an installed hitch sits too close to the vehicle exhaust/muffler it is not a big deal to slightly reposition the exhaust hanger (that suspends the exhaust on a rubber grommet) to provide more clearance. The linked article explains in detail.

The USA-made Curt Class III hitch model # C13290 is a confirmed fit for your 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC300, both the base model and the 4Matic model. It includes all required installation hardware and detailed instructions, which are linked for you. A video is included as well.

There is no plug-and-play wiring kit for the vehicle but the available 4-pole wiring options are not too difficult for most DIY-ers. I recommend Tekonsha kit # 119250KIT over the Curt option # C59236 since we find their wiring products to be the most reliable ones available. A help article on installing this is included.
