Question:

Can you use regular bandw companion 5th wheel hitch for a standard bed on a flat bed.

The reason flat bed fifth wheel hitches like the B&W Companion Flatbed Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # BWRVK3050 have a lower profile than most fifth wheel hitches you see in the bed of trucks is because the flat bed sits up higher than a standard truck bed which means the hitch has to sit lower.

You couldn't use a standard Companion hitch with a flat bed truck for that reason. It would sit too tall and the shank of the hitch wouldn't reach.
