Question:

Does the Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Time Delayed Item # C74VV plug and play directly into a 2014 GMC Sierra? If not, is there one that first plug and play. I have the spot in my truck where to plug in the harness.

If you have the factory tow package on your 2014 GMC Sierra 1500, which from your description it sounds like you do, then the Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV is plug-and-play. All you need is the Curt Custom Wiring Adapter # C51451; one end plugs into the brake controller and the other end plugs into the port beneath your dash.

With this very same plug and play package on my 2017 Silverado, the tail lights stay on when the engine is turned off. What is going on?

Is it the tail lights on the truck or the tail lights on the trailer that are staying illuminated? The tail light circuits really aren't related at all to the brake controller connection, so something has to be shorting out to the trailer wiring for this to occur. Have you made sure that the controller is what's causing the issue (unplug the unit to see if the light issue persists)?

@ChrisR I am sorry that I didn't relay that info. It is the truck brake lights that go on when the doors are all closed. I have never plugged in the harness to the trailer yet. I haven't picked it up yet from the dealership. I did talk to a Chevrolet parts department person today and we found out the plug and play harness is OK. That leaves the controller at fault. I have ordered another one from Amazon and will try that as soon as it arrives. I will let you know what happens with the new controller. Thanks for the reply. This controller did not get the greatest reviews, but I thought it would get me buy until I get back to Michigan to my other truck that has a good controller and I turn in this leased 2017 Silverado. I didn't want to invest to much in something that was only going to be used on a one way trip. Again, thank you.
