Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Bike Rack for a 2005 Volvo V70

Question:

We are concerned about the bikes 2 or more tires hitting the road when going over bumps or steep driveways. Do you have any suggestions for which hitch or rack that would avoid this.

Expert Reply:

Your best option for avoiding ground contact with a hitch mounted rack will be a platform style rack with a large or offset rise. This means the distance from the shank where the rack connects to the hitch and where the bikes actually sit is much higher than normal. There are a few great racks that have these kinds of offsets.
