What is Difference Between RockyMounts HighNoon FC and MonoRail Single Bike Racks

Updated 08/28/2024 | Published 08/25/2024

Question:

Hi, I am looking for a light-weight single bike carrier for my 2016 Mazda Miata with a 1 1/4inch hitch, and am wondering about the differences between the Rocky Mounts Monorail rack and the Rocky Mounts High Noon rack. Ill be carrying either a carbon road bike or an alloy gravel bike. I have a Swagman platform 2-bike rack but its heavy and not ideal for a carbon frame. They seem similar in price and function. Can you enlighten me, and perhaps explain why one would be a better fit than the other for my needs? Thanks.

Hey Tim, this is a really great question as the RockyMounts HighNoon part # RKY87RR and the Monorail part # RKY10007 are both very similar. To the point I almost don't see why they have both available at first glance.

But anyway the Monorail has a shorter max wheelbase at 48 inch compared to HighNoon which is 52 inch. The Monorail also sits about 4 inches closer to the vehicle at 12 inches compared to 16.

The Highnoon weighs 29 lb and the MonoRail 25 lbs.
