Does Suspension Sag Factor When Picking Out Correct Rise/Drop Ball Mount
Published 02/13/2018 >
Question:
I have read many of your FAQs about this and every one measures the hitch height with the tow vehicle unloaded. Assuming I have a loaded 7k trailer I need 750# on the tongue or thereabouts, I know my truck will sag a bit with that weight. How come this isnt addressed or did I just miss it? Thanks

Sounds like you are asking about how to pick out a ball mount that allows the trailer to sit as level as possible. Ideally you go with the rise/drop that allows the trailer to sit totally level with it loaded. Since significant sag isn't always present it may not have been addressed directly enough in our help article on the subject. But when I recommend a ball mount for someone I typically will recommend going with the drop that's a little higher than measured for this reason.
But suspension sag is hard to anticipate so there isn't a solid number we can use everytime when we recommend a ball mount.
