  • Hitch, Brake Controller and Wiring for Towing with 1995 Chevrolet Suburban 4X4 K2500 7.4L
We do not have a single kit/product with all the towing components you'll need to tow a trailer with brakes with your 1995 Chevrolet Suburban 4X4 K2500 with 7.4L engine but we can still get you all set. To wire a trailer brake controller such as the tried-and-true Prodigy P2 # 90885 in your Suburban you will need only a 4-pole wiring harness (either an existing factory one or you can use # C55319) and our Brake Controller Install Kit # ETBC7. This complete kit includes all the electrical...

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for Towing Coachmen RV
You'd need a drop of right at 1 inch to tow the trailer you mentioned level based on the dimensions you listed. The closest to that is a 2 inch drop ball mount like the part # C45331 which fits a 2 inch hitch like you have as well. It has a towing capacity of 15,000 lbs and comes with a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball as well. This comes with a pin and clip as well. Since there isn't a 1 inch drop ball mount and this is very close it will work well.

  • Can Curt Forged Ball Mount Be Flipped For More Height When Towing Car Trailer
I called my contact at Curt and they told me that you can use the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount, part # C45331 flipped over if you wish but you will probably have a heck of a time removing the ball. They said the ball is machine-torqued at 450 ft-lbs when it is attached to the drawbar. An option that may be easier on you would be to use a different ball mount and ball. The ball mount I recommend is part # BWBMHD30010. This ball mount has a 1 inch rise or 2 inch drop and a weight capacity...

  • Comparing B&W Heavy-Duty Ball Mount to Curt Heavy Duty Ball Mount
The BandW Heavy-Duty Ball Mount - 1 Rise, 2 - 8-1/2 Long - 16,000 lbs # BWBMHD30010 is very similar tot he Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount with 2-5/16" Ball - 1" Rise, 2" Drop - 15,000 lbs # C45331 which has the same hitch ball shank dimension of 1-1/4 inches as well as the same rise and drop. Another benefit is the hitch ball is already installed and torqued to spec. Both are quality ball mounts with the B&W having a slightly higher rated capacity. Stock levels change constantly...

  • Options for a 2 Inch Ball Mount that Comes with a 2-5/16 Inch Ball
The ball mounts that have a ball welded on are all either 2 inch or 1-7/8 inch diameter balls. We have some ball mounts that come with a 2-5/16 inch ball bolted on: # C45331 # C45332 # C45041 # C45042

  • Can the Ball Mount # C45340 be Ordered with the Curt Hitch Ball # C40008 Already Installed
I do have a solution for you, but we do not install parts like the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C45340 and 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40008 before shipping them out. Any ball mounts that come with a hitch ball installed come like that directly from the manufacturer. If you do not need the full 17,000 lb capacity of the ball mount # C45340 that you referenced then you can use the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C45331 which is essentially the same exact ball mount with a 2-5/16" hitch...

  • Availability of 2-1/2" Hitch Extension to Open Tailgate Without Unhooking Trailer
Hi Jeff; there are no ball mounts that are long enough to allow for this with your measurements so the only choice is to use an extension. The problem with an extension is that all of them also reduce the receiver down to a 2". It will also reduce the capacity of your hitch by 50% but in most cases that isn't a problem for a hitch with a 2-1/2" receiver. The # e53YR will give you a 7" extension from your hitch pin hole. A ball mount like the # C45331 has 8-1/2" from the center of the hitch...

  • Can Towing Capacity Of A Truck Be Increased By Using Different Ball Mount
The Curt Solid Steel 2" Hitch Bar with Raw Finish - 10" Long # D29 you were looking at is meant to give you a starting point to make you own hitch accessory for a 2" trailer hitch receiver. For towing you would need a ball mount with a hitch ball like the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount with 2-5/16" Ball # C45331 which has a 15000lb towing capacity, but keep in mind that you will be limited to the lowest rated component which could be the ball mount, the trailer hitch receiver, or the...

  • How Much Does the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount with 2-5/16" Ball - 1" Rise Weigh
The Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount part # C45331 is purposely overbuilt with more material than normal which is how it is able to obtain higher than normal capacities. The side effect of this is that the ball mount will weigh more than others and this one comes in at around 15-16 lbs.

  • Trailer Hitch with Higher Capacity than Factory Hitch on a 2018 Ford F-150
With your existing hitch on your 2018 Ford F-150 the maximum weight you can tow, even when using weight distribution, is that 9,100 pounds you quoted. If you were to install an aftermarket one such as # C14016 then you would still be limited to 9,100 pounds but would not have to use weight distribution to reach that capacity. So what it comes down to is whether or not you want to use weight distribution. Since you have 2 trailers you may not want to move the system back and forth between...

  • Solution for Needing Curt Ball Mount and Hitch Ball in 1 inch Drop Position Over 1 inch Rise
Since we do not have a version of the # C45331 with the setup in the rise position instead of the drop position your best option would be to remove the ball and reinstall it in the rise position or go with the part # C45340 and # C40008 which you could then attach to the ball mount in the rise position. The demand for ball mounts in the drop position is much more than in the rise position as tow vehicles generally are getting taller and taller while trailers mainly are staying same height....

  • Recommended Ball Mount With 1-1/2" Drop for 2002 Chevy Avalanche
I'm assuming the 17-1/2" measurement is to the top of the receiver opening on your 2002 Chevy Avalanche. And that the 16" measurement is to the bottom of your coupler while your trailer is level. If that is the case, you need a ball mount with a 1-1/2" drop. Since there isn't one available with this exact measurement, we will go with the closest thing which is a 2" drop. The 1/2" difference really won't make a difference. If you're sure you won't be over 7,000 lbs then the # C45041 with...

  • Recommended Locking Hitch Pin for Curt Heavy Duty Ball Mount C45331
For a locking hitch pin to secure your Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C45331 to your trailer hitch, I recommend the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98882. This is a great stainless steel lock designed for 2 inch trailer hitches. It features a pick-proof screw-and-lock design that will prevent theft of your ball mount or other hitch-mounted accessory. Keep in mind that this will work with 2 inch trailer hitches that have an outside width of up to 2-5/8 inches. If your trailer hitch...

  • How To Choose Ball Mount for Class II 2 Trailer Hitch Receiver
In regards to trailer hitches, class I and II will have a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening and class III and IV will have a 2" receiver tube opening. I have never heard of a class II with 2" receiver tube opening but I would not get too caught up in the class ratings. If you have a 2" receiver tube opening then the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount part # C45331 will work just fine. That said, you need to abide by the weight capacities listed on the hitch, not the ball mount. Please note,...

  • Ball Mount for 2 inch Hitch that has 2 inch Drop and 15k Total Weight Capacity
Ball mounts with 1 inch diameter ball holes will have lower capacities like the Convert-A-Ball part # AMSC2 which has a 1-inch ball hole size but only has a capacity of 10,000 lb. Only similar ball mount we have is the Curt Heavy Duty ball mount part # C45331 which as the same 2 inch drop like you need and a capacity of 15,000 lbs. It comes with a hitch ball mounted to it already which measures 2-5/16 inch. This would be your best option.

  • Looking for 2 inch Hitch Ball Mount with Over 10k Capacity Near 3 inch Drop
Hey Kenneth, so the closest option would be 2 inches of drop like the Curt # C45331 which has the ball size you want and has a 15k capacity. While this only has 2 inches of drop with the weight of your trailer's tongue weight on the ball it would most likely drop enough to be correct. It's also not an absolute requirement you get it the exact dimension. As long as you are pretty darn close that's good enough.

If you don't already have a sway bar you can use the Curt Friction Sway Control part # 17200.
