what is better? Hondas OEM or a BakFlip g2 or MK4, or another manufacture? thanks

I am not too familiar with the OEM tonneau cover for your 2017 Honda Ridgeline, but I did do some research on the cover so I could compare it to the aftermarket covers we have available.

From what I could find, it looks like the OEM cover from Honda is a tri-fold design that will install inside the bed rails, similar to both the BAKFlip MX4 # BAK48602 and BAKFlip G2 # BAK26602 that you referenced. From here, there are a few differences that make me recommend the BAKFlip MX4 # BAK48602 for your Ridgline over the OEM counterpart and various other aftermarket options.

For starters, the OEM model can be folded up to the last section behind the cab, but cannot be folded up completely like the BAKFlip MX4. With the OEM cover, you will always have the last section of the cover down behind the cab, so it does not truly offer complete bed access with it installed. The BAKFlip MX4 features prop rods that let you secure the folded cover in the upright position against the cab so you can drive with the bed completely open.

The BAKFlip MX4, unlike the Honda model, also allows you to open and close the tailgate whether the tonneau cover is up or secured down. Finally, based on a few things that I read regarding the Honda OEM model, it does provide basic protection against the elements, but it tends to have some leaking issues in the rain. The BAKFlip MX4 on the other hand features matte black rubber seals, along with a built-in drainage system that will do a great job of keeping your cargo dry.

This is a really nice system that will work perfectly on your Honda Ridgeline. It is made in the USA, comes with a 3-year warranty, and includes all the necessary installation hardware.
