Question:

How can I tell if I have the tow package on my Highlander? I have the limited edition but I cant find anything in the vehicle specs that say whether I have it or not. The limited edition does come with a 5,000 pound tow capacity but my vehicle did not come with a trailer hitch.

You can have a Toyota dealer run the VIN number to determine how your 2018 Toyota Highlander is equipped. As far as trailer wiring you can check under the dash for any sort of wiring converter. It may or may not be labeled. Or you can find where a wiring harness plugs into the vehicle at the back and then use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test that connector. Have someone sit in the vehicle and operate the lighting functions while you test the connector.

If there is power on that connector, then all you will need is # 56042 to add a 4-Way flat trailer connector to the rear of the vehicle. If there is no power on that connector, then you will need harness # 118449. I have included a link to a video showing installation of the # 118449 wiring harness so you can see where to find that connector at the rear of the vehicle.
