Yes, the Brophy Hitch Extender # ST18 can be used as a way to extend out the distance between a trailer and the hitch it is installed in. With this extender you'd gain an additional 18 inches. Only thing you'll want to keep in mind is that when you use a hitch extender like this you cut the capacity of the hitch it is installed in by 50 percent.
