Question:

I wonder if you can tell me the reason that the BS 1307 baseplate will not work on a 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman JCW when it works on the non-JCW. Is the frame different or the suspension? Thanks, 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman JCW Manual 6 speed trans

The John Cooper Works (JCW) edition of the 2009 Mini Clubman came with a turbocharged I4 engine. The turbocharged engine also utilizes an intercooler which brings down air intake temperatures. The placement of the intercooler is the reason the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit part # BX1307 will not work for you as they both occupy the same space. Unfortunately, none of our base plate manufacturers (Roadmaster/Blue-Ox) make a base plate kit that is compatible with the JCW edition therefore your only option to flat tow the vehicle would involve using a tow dolly such as the Roadmaster Tow Dolly part # RM-2050-1.

The Roadmaster Tow Dolly will work perfectly for your 2009 Mini Clubman. The tow dolly has both integrated turn signals and electric brakes. Flat-towing a vehicle with two wheels down opposed to four wheels down will not cause as much stress and wear on the vehicle in addition to being much easier to set up.
