Should SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 be Replaced with SMI Air Force One # SM99243 for New RV

I have had a SMI stay-in-play installed while towing with a class C Gas. Ive now upgraded my rig to a diesel pusher. Is there any reason to upgrade my stay-in-play to a air force one? or am I fine with what I have? Many thanks

Both the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 and the SMI Air Force One # SM99243 are great supplemental braking systems that are very popular and have received many 5 star reviews from our customers.
The only real difference between these systems is that the Stay-IN-Play DUO is activated by electrical and inertia sensors whereas the Air Force One is activated solely by the air braking system on your RV.
The DUO should not be used on your diesel with air brakes because you'll experience false braking on your toad when you're using the coach's exhaust brakes. The exhaust brakes don't actually engage the air brakes on the motorhome but they did activate the brake lights. Since the brake lights are lit the DUO will activate the brakes in your toad, even though you don't really need it to. Since the Air Force One needs the coach's air brakes to activate the toad's brakes it will not cause the false braking while using the exhaust brake. So I recommend changing to the Air Force One instead of keeping the DUO.
