Question:

I would like to purchase a hitch for my new 2017 Chev Colorado W/T model with tow package. It came with a 3500 rating but the truck will pull 7000. The DrawTite 76004 has a line that says Cannot tow with step bumper after hitch is installed.inch Does this just mean a ball on the bumper center cant be used or is something from the bumper assy. that gets d or changed? Also, I would like a wiring harness that plugs into the existing system/bumper housing with no cutting or splicing. Any help would be appreciated.

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76004 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Chevrolet Colorado and will work well for you. The Draw-Tite Max-Frame is a Class IV trailer hitch with a 2" receiver tube opening. The hitch has a gross trailer weight (GTW) rating of 8,000 lb and tongue weight (TW) rating of 800 lbs though you will need to verify your vehicle's GTW and TW ratings as the lower of the two will be your limiting factor. I have attached an installation video of this hitch installed on a similar 2016 Chevrolet Colorado for you as well.

In regards to the installation note, "With this hitch installed the step bumper is no longer able to be used as a towing point". The original factory bumper will not be altered in any way however, the factory step bumper can no longer be used as a connection point for towing due to the interference with a hitch ball and the trailer hitch. The new trailer hitch will be installed directly under the hole in the factory bumper which will not allow for a hitch ball to secure properly.

For a trailer wiring harness, I recommend using the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C55774 which is a plug and play option that will not require hardwiring and will give you a 7-way trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle.
