Question:
My 2 bike Thule bike rack bolt that secures the rack to the trailer hitch continues to work loose even with a lock washer. I need to stop every two to three hours to retighten the bolt. Is their any way to get a longer bolt that could be secured with an nut and lock washer o on the other side?

I have a solution for you, but unfortunately the bolt patterns for most bike racks like your Thule rack tend to be proprietary, and aren't generally able to be matched.
Instead, I recommend replacing the hitch pin. You can do this one of two ways.
If you already have a lock and such set up, then part # 853-5917 will outright replace the hitch pin. Often times a bent or damaged thread pattern can cause the bolt to work loose.
If you don't have a lock, you can replace with a locking kit as part # THSTL2. This will provide a hitch lock and a new bolt and locking washer pair to replace your existing items.

I recently replaced the hitch pin that goes with my lock for the Thule T2. My rack and hitch are 16 years old. The new bolt still gets loose and needs tightening frequently. I haven't tried "Loctite" yet. Is there a bolt without a lock that I can use instead? Are there other options?
