Troubleshooting Difficult to Thread Hitch Bolt for a Thule Goalpost

Question:

908-1240-54 Replacement 12 x 40 mm Hitch Bolt for Thule Hitch Bike Racks and Goalpost Hitch Mounted Load Bar I just tried this for my thule bike rack that goes in my hitch, the bolt doesnt seem to be long enough, And is quite difficult to screw in. Your store matched the part number on my instructions for the rack. is there a longer screw I could exchange for?

I really wish we had a longer hitch pin bolt I could recommend for your Thule Goalpost but the part # 908-1240-54 is the only one confirmed as a fit that we can recommend. Sometimes if you move the shank of the rack around as you are trying to thread it in you can help position the shank so that it can allow the bolt to thread as easy as possible.

It is also possible that the threads of your Goalpost need to be cleaned to allow the bolt to thread easily. You may try cleaning the threads with a wire brush and WD40 and try threading the bolt a few times with the rack not in the hitch to see if the threads or the hitch is causing the problem.
