What is the load capacity of the car Thule Trunk bike rack? I am wanting to know if it would hold a wheelchair. The wheelchair is less than 50 lbs.

Helpful Expert Reply:
A Bike Rack like the Thule Passage 2, part # TH910XT, is capable of holding up to 35 pounds in each of its carriers.
Though its not a recommended use, these can hold manual, folding wheelchairs. This is an exceedingly dangerous use of the Thule Passage though.
You will be much better off in the long term adding a hitch like part # 13707, a Class III Curt hitch to carry a traditional cargo carrier. I recommend the Flint Hill Goods 30" x 50" Wheelchair Carrier w/ 48" Ramp - 2" Hitch
# FHG77ZR as a great fit for wheelchair carriers. This will be compatible with the Class III hitch and includes a ramp for easy loading.
