Replacement Breakaway Kit for 2013 McClain Boat Trailer
Updated 09/11/2017 | Published 09/08/2017 >
Question:
ok, so I need to replace a Hopkins battery box charger and battery that was installed new on my 2013 McClain boat trailer. I think this is same unit, but am confused by the side load description. My existing unit is mounted upright on top of the trailer rail. Looking down, the push to test buttons and the cover are on the top of the unit. Is this the same unit as 20099? Can 20099 be mounted in this position

The Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger - Side Load # 20099 will work even when mounted as you mentioned. There is a top load version # 20400 that mounts to the trailer rail from the side. The difference in mounting is not a big issue but rather a preference.
The Hopkins Engager is an excellent system that is a top selling replacement for many factory breakaway kits. I've attached some videos to assist.
