Question:

I have a Yakima Spacecadet15. I lost the keys, but was able to pick the lock open. The sticker on the product says it is 1050454 Rev.B. How do I extract the cylinder so that I can find the code to get replacement keys? I attached a photo of the sticker. Thanks.

The easiest thing to do from here is to simply order a Yakima Same Key System replacement kit, part # Y07202. This will give you a control key to remove the lock that is currently in the system (as long as it is in the unlocked position) and then insert the new core. It includes keys that are paired to the included lock cores.

If you have any additional Yakima products that can lock, this will allow you to add the additional cores to those products and use the same key. There is a 6 pack available as part # Y07206, if you have a roof rack for instance.

If you instead want to fully remove the core and just match to the existing lock, you'll need just a control key as part # Y8007835 to remove the lock and look at the side where the lock number is printed. I've included a picture that displays this.

You'll then need to take that number and search for it in the format Y8772-XXXX, where XXXX is the four digit code on the side of the lock. For example, in the example picture I shared, the part is part # Y8772-A148 to obtain the replacement key for the system.
